The Clink Cymru officially opens

On Wednesday 19th September we officially opened the doors of The Clink Cymru at HMP Cardiff. Local businesses, suppliers, media and industry peers were present to help celebrate the opening of the second ever Clink training restaurant. Christmas Cards designed by prisoners from HMP Send

The Clink Charity has joined up with the Michael Varah Memorial Fund (MVMF) to sell their charity Christmas cards, designed by prisoners at HMP Send, a women’s prison in Surrey, who are participating in the Michael Varah Artist in Residence art workshops. This residency is part of the Watts Gallery Art for All Big Issues learning programme, funded into a fifth year by the MVMF.

Graduate update

Each Clink training restaurant is now able to train 43 prisoners at any one time, 10 working the floor in the restaurant, 14 cooking in the kitchens and four on the BICS cleaning course as well as 15 prisoners training in the farms and gardens department.
We have now trained over 150 graduates in the last two years and we have released 34 into full-time employment within the hospitality industry and we are still in touch with 31 of those graduates […]

New Clink Autumn Menus

Our autumn menus have been launched in both The Clink Restaurant at HMP High Down and at The Clink Cymru at HMP Cardiff and will run until 23rd November. The menus run on a three week rotation, offering a selection of seasonal dishes, skilfully designed by Chef Al Crisci with the help of the prisoners in training. News from the farms and gardens

At HMP Prescoed the prisoners have just finished building some raised flower bed boxes and some garden furniture for our herb garden at The Clink Cymru. The summer vegetables and salad items at the farm are coming to the end of the season and the autumn crops are coming along nicely. We are currently recruiting for a gardener and farmer to work full-time for The Clink Cymru to select and train the next group of prisoners.
