The Clink Restaurant at HMP Cardiff extends opening times to increase prisoner training

We’ve decided to start opening The Clink Restaurant at HMP Cardiff for service every Wednesday and Friday evening and for Sunday lunch. These extended hours will enable us to expand the breadth of training for the prisoners by experiencing evening and weekend service.

The Clink Gardens are flourishing and clucking

With eight poly tunnels up and running we welcome the latest additions to The Clink Gardens at HMP Send – 49 Rhode Island Red chickens. Having settled in, their incredible egg laying abilities will provide plenty of fresh eggs.

We’re pleased to welcome Sir William Atkinson, retired head teacher, as the latest addition to our board of trustees. With vast experience within educational institutes William brings a wealth of knowledge to the charity.

TripAdvisorWe’re delighted that the restaurants at HMP High Down and HMP Cardiff have been awarded the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence two years in a row, making them part of the top 1% of restaurants in their respective areas.

Training and graduate update

Graduate Update
It’s been a busy couple of months since our last newsletter and we’re pleased to let you know we have released nine graduates into employment across the three restaurants and taken on nine new trainees.
We have released our first graduate from The Clink Restaurant at HMP Brixton, having completed six months training to achieve his NVQ level 2 City and Guilds certificate in Food Service.
