Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, Bailliage de Grande Bretagne commits to supporting The Clink Charity

H.M.P High Down Honey

A huge thank you to the ten Clink supporters who each kindly offered to sponsor one of our ten bee hives after our request for support in our July newsletter. Two hives have so far been occupied within the grounds of the prison and we are setting up the rest as we speak.
Keep your eyes peeled for more news on the bee hives and for further sponsorship opportunities available in 2012.


Graduate News

Three graduates have been released since the beginning of July and two have now begun full-time work. The third graduate has gained an apprenticeship at a top London hotel and is due to start on 5th Sept.
Five members of the catering industry now visit The Clink regularly in order to support and help our in-house NVQ trainers teach prisoners catering and service skills. Last week the graduates attended a chocolate workshop.


Tales from the potting shed

The Bromley Glasshouse that was kindly donated to us by The Bromley Trust now has its first crop!  The soil was dug over by hand, followed by a couple of passes with the rotavator to improve the tilth. Cabbage (Caraflex F1) and Cauliflower transplants from one of the plots have been put in and a temporary irrigation system has been installed.

Due to last year’s outstanding response to our Christmas puddings served up in a porcelain bowl and wrapped in muslin, we are increasing the number we cook this year. New Clink Graduate Mentoring Partnership

The Clink Charity is thrilled to announce the launch of a new ex-offender career mentoring scheme with hospitality education charity Springboard. This will provide one-to-one jobseeker support to each of our Clink graduates upon release from prison.
Springboard, now in its 21st year, was born out of an urgent need to tackle the skills crisis in the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism industries by nurturing home-grown talent and promoting skills training as a route to long-term careers in the sector.
