New Summer Menus

The Clink’s new Summer menus were launched on Monday 21st May and have been extremely well received. There are three different menus on a weekly cycle offering diners over 45 new and seasonally inspired dishes that have been designed and created with the help of the prisoners.

The Secretary of State comes to lunch

The Working Prisons Business Advisory Group held their monthly meeting in The Grosvenor Suite at The Clink this month. The Secretary of State, Rt Hon Kenneth Clarke PC, QC, MP, Minister for Prisons, Rt Hon Crispin Blunt MP and their team, which includes Lady Edwina Grosvenor, Clink trustee and philanthropist had a presentation from Peter Dawson, the prison governor of High Down and Chris Moore chief executive of The Clink Charity about industry within High Down and also the work of The Clink.

Bromley Trust greenhouse

On Wednesday 16th May Lady Anne Prance, the chair of The Bromley Trust, officially opened The Bromley Greenhouse situated within the grounds of HMP High Down in Sutton. The board of trustees, the team at The Clink and some serving prisoners currently in training attended the event before serving lunch in the restaurant.

Cardiff Update

The Clink Cymru at HMP Cardiff is making good progress with the builders half way through the project. The 96 cover restaurant and kitchen area is expected to be finished by 1st July so we can start fitting the kitchen equipment and bring in the furniture for the restaurant.

Graduate Update: May 2012

Currently in training at The Clink, HMP High Down, are 28 prisoners working towards their City and Guilds qualifications in food preparation and front of house service. Five of the graduates currently in training are due to be released over the next couple of months into full-time employment within the hospitality industry.
