A unique dining experience
  • A unique dining experience, within the grounds of this Category B prison.
  • A delicious meal, cooked using fresh, seasonal ingredients and the latest cookery techniques.
  • You will be served by prisoners from HMP Prescoed (a category D prison) who participate in The Clink Restaurants' training scheme.
  • The Clink Restaurant Cardiff has a private dining room which is available for exclusive hire; seating 25 and offering projector and AV facilities it is ideal for meetings, conferences and presentations.
  • Please note that no alcohol is served in this restaurant due to it being banned on prison premises.

Monday to Saturday
Breakfast: 9am – 11am
Lunch: 12pm – 3pm
Afternoon Tea: 12pm – 3pm

Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday Dinner:
6.30pm, 7pm & 7.30pm sittings available. Please note: Evening sittings must be booked in advance and include a special gourmet menu that is priced at £39.95 per person.

Sunday Roast: 12pm – 3pm. Please note: Sittings are for 2 courses (starter & main or main & dessert) priced at £19.95 per person. Desserts are an additional £5.95.


Public Transport

Train: The nearest main line station is Cardiff Central. There is a fairly regular train service from Cardiff Central Station to Cardiff Queen Street Station. This is within 400 yards walking distance of the prison.

Bus: As the prison is very near to the city centre, any bus taking you into Cardiff passes the prison.

By Car

From M4 westbound: Leave M4 at Junction 29 where the road splits (Swansea etc. to the right and Cardiff to the left onto the A48M). Follow the dual carriageway and take the third exit (docks/Cardiff east, A4161). Remain on the A4161 and follow the signs for Cardiff City Centre, through several sets of traffic lights with Cardiff Royal Infirmary and the Blind Institute (Shand House) on your left. After passing the Blind Institute take the first left into Fitzalan Road (before the Railway Bridge).

From M4 eastbound: Leave M4 at Junction 33 signposted Cardiff (Wales) Airport. At the roundabout take the second exit (A4232) and follow the dual carriageway; after passing through the Butetown tunnel take the first left then take the second exit at the next roundabout. Follow this dual carriageway over a flyover; you will then see the walls of the prison. Turn right and follow the wall - turn left and left again, the multi-storey car park will be on your right.

Parking: There is a multi-storey car park directly opposite the prison.
