The students at our Clink Gardens project at HMP Erlestoke have been working on an exciting new floral display to showcase their hard work.
Josh Bateman, our Garden Trainer at HMP Erlestoke, said, “This project has continued to engage the students this summer, and they’ve had to work together as a team to make it happen. Despite the prolonged heatwaves over the summer creating difficult conditions just to keep the plants alive, the students have created a wonderful garden and are rightly very proud of their efforts, as am I.”
They came up with the idea for a surfer who would be riding a wave of flowers. They drew up the design, factored in how many plants would be required, and took into account their ultimate height, spread and the volume of compost required to fill the ‘wave’. The surfer project was made of old desks, wood offcuts, old floor polishing discs stuffed into the legs and a pair of our Garden Trainer Josh’s old jeans!
